Fall 2013 Resume Book – Add Your Resume Starting Tuesday 10/8 at 9:00 a.m.

The Fall Resume Book is back! As part of our on-going efforts to support Fowler Law School students in their job searches and career development, the CSO is compiling a Resume Book for both current students and graduates. Bid now to include your resume in Fowler Law School's very own e-Resume Book. This electronic book of resumes, indexed by class level, will be sent to approximately 5,000 employers. In the past, several students have received interviews and job offers through the Book, so we encourage you to participate.

In order to participate in this semester’s book, please do the following:

1. Fill out and submit a Release Form & Participation Agreement.

This can be accomplished in one of the following three ways:

• Copy and paste the text of the waiver into an email, sign it electronically (/s/ Your Name), and send it to Joan Seguin from your Chapman email account (Note: It must be from your Chapman email account so that we can authenticate your identity);

• Print and sign the Release Form & Participation Agreement, then scan and email it to Joan Seguin; or

• Stop by the Career Services Office to sign a Release Form.

2. Log on to Symplicity and go to the “OCI” tab.

3. Select the “Fall 2013 Resume Book” session.

4. Upload your most recent resume and bid/apply.

The deadline to upload is Tuesday, October 15 at 9:00 a.m.

Note: The distribution list for the Resume Book is quite extensive. In addition, recipients of the Book may further distribute it to their contacts. This means that a large network of employers may see the Book and your resume in it, thereby diminishing the confidentiality of your search. If you are currently employed and do not wish your employer to know you are seeking employment, please consider this before including your resume in the Book, as we cannot provide assurances that your current employer will not see the Resume Book.

If you have any questions, please contact Joan Seguin.

Women’s Law Society Toiletry Drive

Please join the Chapman Women Lawyers Association in a toiletry drive for the Mercy House Homeless Shelter by donating new, unused toiletries and hygiene products at the law school reception desk until October 31st. For more information, email chapmanwomenlawyers@gmail.com Joint JD-MBA Mentor Program Available for 2L, 3L and JD/MBA Students

What it is:

The Orange County Financial Society, Chapman University and Fowler Law School have created a unique mentor program that partners business and legal professionals with both JD and MBA students and also creates the opportunity for JDs and MBAs to interact with each other to gain an appreciation of the business management and legal perspectives each offers and that are necessary for a business to succeed.

Mentors from the local business and legal community will be matched one-on-one with an MBA or a JD student. Students may be paired with either a business professional mentor or attorney regardless of whether they are in the JD or MBA program. Our goal is for participating students to learn the values and characteristics that make someone a true professional, which is the basis of lasting success, and also to see more of the “big picture” of how business and law interact.

How it works:

Our fall event will be our speed mentoring breakfast on October 29. Students and mentors will receive a profile of their assigned mentor/mentee prior to meeting them at the breakfast. Mentors will be asked to have at least one more in-person contact with their mentees within a month of the breakfast meeting.

There will also be a spring meeting

First meeting:

Meet your mentors at the initial breakfast meeting
